OFFICIAL RULES

 

Disclosures:

All “Terms of Use” set forth by Instagram and YouTube apply to all contests. However, the Kidizenship contests are in no way sponsored by, endorsed by, administered by or associated with Instagram or YouTube. As a result, as a participant in any contest, you release Instagram and YouTube from any and all liability associated with the contest.

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. KIDIZENSHIP CONTESTS ARE INTENDED FOR PARTICIPATION BY U.S. RESIDENTS AND WILL BE GOVERNED BY U.S. LAW. DO NOT ENTER IF YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE.

CONTESTANT ELIGIBILITY:

  • Contestants MUST be between the ages of 8 and 18. There will be two age categories for prizes, ages 8-12 and 13-18.

  • Contestants between the ages of 8-12 MUST get their parent or legal guardian’s permission to participate in any contest.

SUBMISSIONS:

  • For contests that accept admissions via Instagram, contestants must use the hashtag #kidizenship and the relevant Talent Category hashtag (eg: #kidizenshipFLAG, #kidizenshipHERO etc) for full consideration as an entrant of the contest. This does not apply to contests where Instagram is not the admissions platform.

  • Submissions will be accepted through a variety of platforms including Dropbox, Instagram, YouTube, and Email: info@kidizenship.com. For contests using social media: contestants may enter using their own social media accounts or the social media accounts of a parent, guardian, or teacher, with the account holder’s permission.

  • Contestants must upload new material. This means content that has not been uploaded to any social media channel prior the launch date of the contest they are submitting for. 

  • The content you upload must be your own work. Not your friend’s work, not your parent’s work, not your teacher’s work. We want to hear your voice. 

CONTEST RULES:

  • If you are submitting in the age 8-12 age group, you MUST have a parent or legal guardian’s permission to enter, and we will verify that permission for the 10 finalists in each contest. 

  • Submissions may be disqualified if they contain content that is disrespectful, hateful, discriminatory, or advocates violence.

  • You may not enter a contest if you are related to any of the judges of that contest. 

 

CONTEST CATEGORIES:

DESIGN your own American flag

WRITE a civic hero story  

WRITE and PERFORM a speech for the 46th President of the U.S.

COMPOSE and PERFORM a new National Anthem

CREATE a video ad championing your cause/issue

DESIGN a new local or national monument

ADVANCING TO FINALS:

  • All contest entries will be reviewed by judges selected by Kidizenship, Inc.  Up to ten (but in some cases fewer) finalists in each Contest Category and age category will be chosen by Kidizenship, Inc, and Judges will choose the winners among these finalists. 

  • If a contestant is among the group of finalists who are chosen to move to the finals, he or she will be contacted by email or direct message (DM) to the email address/social media account they used to enter the contest. The email or DM will instruct the contestant to agree to the terms of the contest and upload their entry with instructions provided in message.

VOTING:

  • Contestants chosen and notified that they’ve moved into the finals, may have their submission showcased on national media outlets. Kidizenship reserves the right to submit these submissions for press features.

  • A chosen panel of judges will select the winners from the group of finalists. 

  • Contestants will be encouraged to let their friends, fans and family know about the contest via social media channels.

PRIZE WINNERS:

  • Prize winners will be announced on kidizenship.com as well as Kidizenship social media channels and will be notified directly via email.

  • The winners will have 72 hours after the finalists announcement/outreach to respond and redeem the prize.

  • The winners will be required to provide documentation of their age and identity.

  • Prize winners in each of the two age categories will be awarded a $1000 check for 1st place, a $750 check for 2nd place, and a $500 check for 3rd place. 

  • If winners are tied in a category, prize money will be evenly split.

  • Prizes will be mailed by check to the winners after confirmation of eligibility. 

  • Prize winners can elect to have payments paid to their parents/guardians if they do not have a way of accepting/depositing checks. 

  • Prize winners are responsible for paying income tax on the prize as required by the contestant’s state of residence and by the U.S. government.

PROMOTIONAL TERMS:

  • By submitting to this contest, the contestant understands that his or her entry can be used in promotional materials and campaigns for current and future use by Kidizenship, Inc. for an unlimited period of time. This includes but is not limited to broadcast media, print, and social media use.

  • By submitting to this contest, personal information including name, address, email and phone number will be entered into a database for future marketing efforts set forth by Kidizenship, Inc. This information will not be sold to any third party. Marketing is expected to consist of notifications of future contests, civics information and invitations to submit articles to and/or subscribe to civics and civic engagement related publications produced by Kidizenship, Inc.
